Introducing…. You Need A Nutritional Therapist

Hurrah! We’ve just launched
‘You Need A Nutritional Therapist’

You might have guessed what we’re all about (our name is a big clue). Nutritional Therapy. But what you might not understand is how it all works and why…well, You Need A Nutritional Therapist.

Kay Ali a Registered Nutritional Therapist with a lot of experience in the nutraceutical industry. While her credentials in alternative health are impressive (FdSc, DipION, mBANT, mCNHC and Senior Associate Member of the Royal Society of Medicine), it’s her warm personality, infectious passion for health and realistic approach to wellbeing that makes her so special. You Need A Nutritional Therapist (YNANT) has been 4 years in the making. My business partner Vicky Silverthorn (founder of You Need A Vicky) spent the last 4 years convincing Kay to partner up with us to create this life transforming service. I’m so glad she did.

Just like Vicky, I honestly believe that YNANT completes the essential four pillars for a happier and easier life that You Need A Collective service. Home – You Need A Vicky, life – You Need A PA, tech – You Need An IT Guy and now health. But I have to say, what Kay offers is so much more than telling you to “eat your 5 day.” She’s not another health ‘foodie’ blogger. She’s worked alongside some of London’s top consulting GPs, transforming people’s lives. I asked Kay to describe how she can help you. This is what she had to say…

“Health coaches, dieticians, foodies, nutritionists and nutritional therapists. What a minefield. It’s brilliant that we’re all much more health conscious now, turning to food to support our wellbeing. But let’s be real, it’s all got a bit confusing.

In short, I practice functional medicine. It’s not about jumping on to the latest fad or restricting your diet. It’s about identifying scientifically proven whole foods and supplements that you need to feel your best. It’s scientific, personal and targeted. Put simply, I review your body systems as a whole. This way I don’t just address your symptoms individually; I identify the underlying root cause of your overall health concerns, going straight to the problem.

In my opinion, one of the major shortcomings of conventional medicine is that it sees the body as a sum of separate parts. It’s why we have different doctors for each part – cardiologists for the heart, gastroenterologists for the gut, pulmonologists for the lungs etc. Don’t get me wrong, their work is astounding. But the issue is they rarely work together, when in fact a problem with the heart might be the result of a problem with the gut (at least that’s what the latest research is telling us – but that’s an entirely separate topic). So the patient ends up seeking treatment for all their issues separately, ignoring the potential underlying factor causing it all.

In functional medicine we know that the body is much more complex than that. All the body systems are integrated; it’s impossible to understand one part without viewing the whole. It’s with this view I analyze your health in the comfort of your home. I may recommend functional tests to help investigate the bigger picture of what could be going on. Using scientifically proven whole foods and supplements I target your underlying imbalance and aim to restore it. What’s more is my recommendations consider your existing lifestyle so they’re achievable and realistic. I don’t claim to treat conditions, rather I support them. The results can be astonishing. I’ve helped young children with behavioural problems, clients with heart concerns, hormonal issues, low immunity, bloating, fatigue and so much more.

My work is regulated by the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. What that means is I’m bound by a strict code of conduct and ethics that puts your safety and confidentiality first. Offering a personal and trustworthy service is at the heart of what I do.

If you’re still not sure whether nutritional therapy is for you, here are 8 reasons why You Need A Nutritional Therapist:

  1. You’re experiencing long term gut problems but you have no idea what’s wrong.
  2. You just don’t feel your best but your doctor says your test results are fine.
  3. You’ve been diagnosed with a health condition and would like to explore natural methods to support your wellbeing.
  4. You’re concerned about you and/or your child’s health and would like to know what you can do naturally to support it.
  5. You’re taking several medications and you’re worried about their nutrient depletions.
  6. You have a cocktail of supplements in your medicine cabinet, but you’re not quite sure why you’re taking them.
  7. You don’t think you’re poorly, but you feel tired all the time.
